Class 5 *ONLINE CLASS - FInish by midnight tonight

Today's class will be an online class because the wifi in the classroom is still not working well. 😓 Please do the below activites before midnight tonight. Then (after today) revise your story on your file, before the next class.

I will be in the classroom at the beginning 5 minutes of class to explain if you have questions. Then I will be in my office, C406, making suggestions to the first half of your first story. If you have questions after the first 5 minutes of class, you can see me there.

You should have already SHARED YOUR ESSAY HERE by making a link before class time. (If you are late, do not write your own stories during class time. Use class time to read other people's stories even if you are not finished.)

Today we will read each other's essays and make comments, ask questions, and try to guess which story is true! You will also vote for the best stories you read. You will also give feedback to classmates since they will have a chance to revise their essay before I grade it.

1. Check the grade form here, and remember what we learned about writing good stories. If needed, check my example again here.

2. Read the stories of all the classmates in your group by clicking the link on page 2 of the file. If a student in your group did not finish, you can read a story from another group. I hope you can read 5 classmates' stories in total.

3. Make at least 2 comments on each story with your reaction ("Wow. that is crazy!" "Unbelievable." "This happened to me once. I...."), questions ("Where did this happen?" "Why did you do this?"), or feedback. With your mouse, select the part of the story you want to comment on, and then click the comment icon that pops up on the right.
(See this video if you do not know how to make comments.)
You can also make suggested edits to the grammar, spelling, word use, form, writing style, etc.  The students will have a chance to revise their essay before I grade it, so help each other!! Students who make helpful or interesting comments will get extra points!

4. Towards the end of the second story, make one more comment on which story you think is fiction. Explain why.

5. Vote for the best stories you read. VOTE!

Homework:
Revise your story by Thursday at noon. When revising it, consider:
- the comments & suggested edits by your group
- the grade form
- what we learned in class
- the best stories of your classmates & my example here. Were your stories as good? If not, learn from those essays in terms of style and content, and improve your stories.

I will grade your essay after Thursday. So, you have until then to revise your stories. Do your best!!
